So, myself, Kizo, and nyc have been contemplating this for months now, and we've finally decided to actually make a move instead of just talking about it. We're moving to proboards. On top of that, we are starting fresh. In the making of Oblivion, we left too many loopholes in the system, apps, plot and other things. We were in a rush to get this place going, so we basically threw the place together. Now I understand that what we've got here suits most of us fine, but in time, these holes could mean the end of this site. In short, this site is not good for a long term run.

So, the plot will be different, actually tied in to the canon storyline (but in the future by a couple years). That way, canon stuff will actually make sense. Also, you can still keep the things your character has done here; just put them in your bio. you won't lose any character development this way. The ranks and levels have been changed, and are now called classes and levels, because calling the tiers ranks often got confused with positions. The stat system is being redone by nyc. General rules are the same, except for a few key things:

We are now account per character. So, I hope I don't get assassinated by the 10+ character people for passing this. o.o But, it makes things much easier to manage for staff, makes it so that people won't create shitloads of characters and not use them. People might get a lot of characters, but I imagine that would happen over time. You can still have as many characters as you want, just keep in mind each one will need a new account. When you sign up, choose whichever username you think you will remember for that character (for mine I just put the characters full name with no spaces). Once your account is activated, you must change your display name to match your character's name. First name, then last. The name you use in the chatbox will be your OOC name. It'll be how we know who you are, so I recommend you stick to one name instead of changing it every week.

So, account per character could make the RP go slowly, right? Wrong. To compensate for your characters each having separate accounts, we are going to allow liquid posting. This means our bi location rule is canned; you may have one character in more than one topic. Just don't try to abuse this to farm points, or you will lose the liquid posting privilege.

Also, techniques will now be registered in a separate area. This is to prevent big debates about powers in the apps themselves. There is a technique template you can follow that will help you fill all the requirements so that staff doesn't need to remind people to post durations and etc. Apps are also different. They are coded nicely, so they fancy as fuck. It's relatively the same as what we already have content wise, except personality, appearance, and powers are ore broken down, again so that people know what they need to put. Also, to get the code for the app, you need to quote it. the quote button should be in the top right-hand corner. If the code intimidates you, just remember only to type where there is already text. DO NOT try to alter code itself unless you know what you are doing. Also, if you change the picture, make sure it is 100x100 just as the default pics are.

Also, your avatar on the site should be 100x100. If it isn't, the auto-resize will make it look weird.

The cbox will be the same one we have here, but styled to match the site. so when the cbox here disappears, you'll know that we have moved officially. It will be at the bottom of the page on all pages. In other words, global, just the way it is here. But wider, which means I can make the character limit a bit larger.

Also, since our board mod was rather large, there are less forums. Just look at the subforums underneath each main forum name and you'll know where everything is.

So, to get ready for the official move, which should take place in the next 2-3 weeks, I want everyone to finish up their threads. If possible, convert your apps to the new style so that you can claim positions faster. When the site reopens, no one will be able to make reservations. First come first serve. Keep in mind that you make your character account, then post their app in said account. after you're accepted, that account will be given it's name colour like we do here.

you'll notice that the login box in the top is always visible, even when you're already logged in. That is the switch box. With that, switching between accounts takes only seconds, unless you're a slow typer. And if you RP... come on, can't be that slow.

Since we're starting fresh, so is the staff team. On the new site, the only staff are the admins. People who are mods here will have to reapply and retrial to become a mod again. We have 3 mod positions open. ONLY 3. We will only trial 3 at a time. Of course, if someone fails the trial, someone else can go on trial.

Oh, also, there is a new topic button in the nav bar. Verrry handy, since it doesn't open a new page like the one here.

You can all go and check the place out. Read what's there, grab the app templates, technique templates, etc. read the new rules and such. Just check the place out and get familiar. sign ups are disabled until we open officially. you can also check out the character accounts us admins have made if you need reference.

If there is anything on this site you want to keep, make sure to save it now, because once this site closes, it will go into permanent maintenance mode. Only staff will be able to log in.

I really hope that you all come with us. It may seem different, but the admins are putting the utmost care into building the new site. It WILL be better than this site. I mean, it looks decent already.

So people have been asking about RP samples... on the new site, I want people actually posting how they would if they were simply RP'ing. Don't give us a 3000 word sample, because I know that no one here posts that much regularly. The samples will be graded on quality. So spell check your shit and get your grammar/punctuation right, or you may not get a very high rank. I'd suggest just posting good RP posts you've done here as your samples. Just fix them up a little before you do. That being said, you can't really have quality with a 3 sentence post, so do still put some effort into them if you start from scratch.

At approx 2 pm eastern (maybe even around 12:30 am if I'm not contacted for office work), the new site will be opening. 2 hours after it opens, this site will go into maintenance mode. Save what you want to save now, because the staff will not appreciate having to retrive posts for you.

Positions are first come first serve. That being said, if you know that someone is going for a certain position, be courteous and let them have it.

If you haven't already, read ALL the information topics. Even topics that may look the same as here (eg rules), have different parts now.

Be patient. As I will be the only one grading apps for the first few weeks, and there will obviously be a lot coming in the next few days, I may be slow at times. If you try to rush me, I'll save yours for last.

Remember the character per account rules. Screen name should be their first and last name, in that order. NO additives.

Keep in mind that the plot has changed. However, if you want a character of yours from here to retain what they have done here, simply add it to their history.

Also, all my characters have had their history restarted. Anyone who I've RP'ed with who wants one of my chars to remember them, let me know.

Check out what my and Kizo's unranked characters are like rank/stat wise. Low ranks. Remember that if your character is freelance, you will not be getting a rank above AD-0 unless you have a real good reason for them to be, and a history that thoroughly explains why they are so strong.

Also, about mod trials, read the topic. It says don't apply until you have been a member for a week with at least one approved character. Follow that. Mod applications will not be open for anyone who is not a week long member on the new site.

I will hold off on advertising for today only, so that people can get their characters approved and positions claimed before new people come.

Like I've said before, once the chatbox here disappears, it means that the new site has opened.

For those of you who stuck with us and patiently (lul) waited for us admins to get the place in order, thank you. Hopefully you find the new site as fun as this one was, even if it is different from what you're used to.
